Green Waste Recycling

PLEASE NOTE NEW 2020 REQUIREMENTS FOR AB 1826 for businesses that have contracted landscaping services:

  • Green Waste Recycling Requirements From 2020 Onward
    Starting in 2020, per Assembly Bill (AB) 1594, if landscapers take green waste/yard trimmings to a landfill for use as ADC or any other facility that would result in landfill disposal, multifamily dwellings must ensure the green waste/yard trimmings are recycled as required by AB1826.

    AB 1826 also mandates that businesses contracting green waste/yard trimming services must stipulate in their agreements that the landscaper will recycle the collected materials. If the landscaper disposes of the green waste/yard trimmings as ADC or at a landfill, they must instead deliver the materials to a facility that recycles the green waste/yard trimmings.

Milpitas Sanitation offers wheeled carts, bins (1 to 8 cubic yards) and debris boxes (10 to 40 cubic yards). We may also be able to assist you with the procurement of a compactor or other necessary equipment.
